FORTHCOMING FIXTURES
PRESCOT CABLES 0 v OSSETT ALBION 0
SATURDAY 16TH AUGUST
Prescot Cables and Ossett Albion fought out a goal-less stalemate in their opening league game at Hope Street. Cables had the better opportunities to win the game and Rhodes in Albion's goal was the busier of the two goal keepers. Cables captain Jamie McCulloch came close to giving his side the lead on 44 minutes when his powerful header from Mark McLaughlin's cross was cleared off the goal line. Ossett lost Ryan Harrisonwho was carried off on a stretcher just before the break with what looked like a knee injury.

In the second half Rhodes produced a fine save from Cables left back Mark Kilroy. Ossett wasted a glorious opportunity on 74 minutes when Kurtis Noble put clean through by Brown fired wide of the post. Cables had further chances to win the game, Sam Corlett blazing just over the cross bar and Neil Black forcing Rhodes into a fine save at the far post.
Entertainment: 3/5
Star Man: Jamie McCulloch (Prescot Cables)
A report forwarded to the Non-League paper was inexplicably altered slightly before publication incorrectly reporting that Cables wasted a host of chances. This was not the case and never in fact reported.
