PRESCOT CABLES v LIVERPOOL FC
LIVERPOOL SENIOR CUP
Tuesday 1st February 2011
"Its an opportunity for Prescot Cables to show the local supporters what a great team they have on their own doorstep" (Dave Ridler - Cables Manager)
Well the hype has been building and now the game is nearly upon us. Prescot Cables versus Liverpool - you don't hear that often. The thrill is is no way diminished by the fact that Liverpool will be fielding a mixture of Youth Team and Reserve Team players. They still wear the same kit and the same crest is on their chest. At whatever level they play at - they are the elite and probably destined for fantastic careers in football.

But it would be foolish to think that Cables are not a decent outfit and I would be surprised if LFC are risking any underestimation of the task that is ahead of them. Liverpool will not want to get beat - Cables have the opportunity to cause a great upset.

Cables are on the ascendency. Anyone who has watched a game whilst Dave Ridler and Karl Bell have been in charge will have seen a different team to the one that started this current season. The team have started to come together and have shown some good passing moves. There is a feeling of optimism and this game would be a great boost to our campaign.

Cables newcomers - Tony Rendell and Chris Rowntree are unfortunately cup tied and will not therefore be available. John Corrigan and John Couch are injured. Last minute fitness tests will be conducted on Joey Gibiliru, Franny Foy, Freddie Potter and Jay Massie. But with having not had a match last Saturday Ridler is confident that the players will be fully fit and up for the task and he is looking forward to what he described as "a great occasion for eveyone involved".

You cannot live in the region of Liverpool without being aware of LFC. Over the years a number of Cables players have been involved at Liverpool either in a playing capacity or in a coaching role. Many Cables supporters are aware that Dave Ridler is involved in coaching at the Academy, but many will not be aware that Lee Smith, Ben Parsonage and Billy Flynn also perform coaching roles at Liverpool. All will be eager to impress and any players who have been through stages at LFC will be keen to show the club what was their loss and non-league footballs gain.

We have a great selection of players at Cables and they are beginning to come together as a team. One thing can be assured is that they will give it their all to put on a good show for the supporters. Lets not forget the LFC fans who may not have experienced a game at Cables before. This is a good opportunity to show them the enjoyment that can be had by following a Evo Stik team.

Enjoy the night everyone - I know I will.
