Tuesday 3rd November 2009 saw Cables
somehow manage to lose 2-1 to Warrington
Town.

After the match a few die hard fans (or were
they alcoholics - its often hard to tell the
difference) decided to drown sorrows in the
bottom of some glasses.

Those that attended that night will remember
that it was absolutely freezing that night. That
was in the Boardroom, it was even colder
outside.

At one point someone noticed that Dave was
moving very slow, his speach was laboured
and starting to slur and it was taking a few
minutes to answer any questions put to him.
This was quickly diagnosed as classic signs
of hypothermia setting in (athough this can
sometimes be confused with other
conditions). This was put down to the harsh
weather but fortunately a good samaritan
came to his aide and provided warmth in the
form of extra clothing (and another pint).

The keen eyed amongst you will notice the
signed shirt behind Dave. Signed by ex
Cables player and Prescot old boy - Carl
Baker. Carl ex of Cables went on to play for
Southport, Morecambe and now scoring goals
left right and midfield with Stockport County.
