Cables were on the back foot as early as the second minute when a long ball over the top of the Cables defence is gathered by Eastwood's Peter Knox. Despite appeals for offside Knox adavances into the Cables' area before sliding the ball past Cables' Keeper Andy Paxton. On 8 minutes Andy Paxton does well to punch a dipping cross off the head of Eastwood's Russell Cooke as Eastwood look to double their early advantage.

Cables first chance arrives on 10 minutes as midfielder Steve Williams sends a 40 yard free
kick drifting a yard over the Eastwood bar. Sadly it's to be Cables only attempt on goal in the first period.Eastwood miss a glorious chance on 16 minutes when a Richard Dunning free kick catches the home defence napping and Mark Hume rises unchallenged to head wide from six yards out. The visitor's don't have to wait long as two minutes later as Lindon Meilke profits from more slack Cables defending to tap the ball home when unmarked at the far post.

Andy Paxton spares the home side further punishment with a brilliant goal line stop from a point blank Eastwood header on the half hour as Cables struggle to get a foothold in the game.

Early in the second half Cables manage to have a
spell of possession without creating any space inside the Eastwood area. Eastwood's Lindon Meikle uses the space to carry the ball past two retreating Cables defenders before firing over the Cables bar from 10 yards. On the hour Eastwood poach a third as a Cables defender is unable to clear the ball from beneath his feet and allows Eastwood's Richard Cooper to bundle the ball into the Cables' net.

Before the Eastwood celebrations die down Cables notch an unlikely reply as Paul Hopkins chases a ball on the left of the area before angling a half volley past the visiting keeper from 18 yards. Two minutes later Cables Steve Williams and Paul Hopkins link up resulting in Hopkins slamming a fierce drive straight at the Eastwood Keeper.

Any thoughts of a late Cables rally are effectively ended when Eastwood's Mark Hume is granted space to rise at the near post and head home a simple fourth for the visitor's. 5 minutes later Eastwood make it five as the ball is played across Cables 18 yard area for a deflected shot to zip high into the Cables net with Keeper Andy Paxton stranded. There's still time for Eastwood's Richard Cooper to rattle the Cables bar with a 20 yard thunderbolt before the match official brings the Cables misery to and end.
