The Prescot Cables Supporters Club
"Ice Cream, Ice Cream - Big Scoop!" - You had to be there!
A fairly full and optimistic coach of Supporters and
Team left Prescot for the disturbingly named Dark Lane,
home of Rossendale in Lancs. The journey took about
50 minutes. A few die hard fans visited the nearby Blue
Bell PH, run by a guy from Page Moss, others enjoyed
the plush surroundings of the clubhouse, well appointed
with TV screens.

At the initial kick off Cables seemed bright and a decent
result seemed likely. However, the team seemed to run
out of ideas whenever they got near the Rossy goal.

Cables goalie Paxton received rave reports following his
performance against Skem. Today he was in the main
safe and constantly shouted directions to his Defence.
Cables were given a fright, however, when a high ball
into the box saw the ball unexplainably spill out of
Paxtons arms and present a half chance to the
opposition. 2 minutes later (19 mins) Rossendale were
gifted a totally free header in the box and the wrong
footed Paxton was unable to do anything to prevent it
scoring.

Cables had several opportunities to equalise, with a number of shots on goal
ricocheting off players and being saved from the line. However, none of the
efforts were particularly convincing and there seemed to be a panic when
Cables approached the Rossendale goal. Whilst there is divided opinion
amongst fans about the role that Mitten could play in the team
there seemed to be a need for someone with strength and
experience to hold the ball in midfield. The team were quiet on
the pitch with a number of key players such as Couch, Sayers
and Fluery either injured or unavailable.

In the dying moments Cables made several efforts down the
right when Shinks, Green and Rey linked up. Green showed
tremendous commitment, fitness and speed. Rey had a perfect
chance to score with a header as he rapidly approached the
right post. It went wide but should have been a goal. A
disappointing result. The officials had a poor game with a
number of perverse decisions but they were unlikley to effect
the ultimate outcome.
Now looking to balance the team, the Manager has
recruited left winger Paul Cliff from the Reserves who
may feature in the next match. GeoffC
