2009 - Celebrating 125 Years of Football History
Cables lost by three goals in a scrappy game that saw
Shaymen Tom Baker dismissed for a foul on Rob McIntosh.
McIntosh was stretchered off with what may be a serious
injury to his knee. Cables player Paul Lundon was dismissed
after receiving two yellow cards. A few minutes in to the game
saw a chance fall to Cooney which was shot wide.At the half
hour mark Brown cleared a shot on Cables goal for a corner.
Moments later the corner was cleared to Shaymen Winter
who volleyed the unstoppable ball into the top corner from 25
yards.

Just before half time another Cooney shot is well saved at the
feet of the Halifax goalie - Hedge. In the second half treatment
was needed for Lee Smith after many thought he had been
stamped on by the Halifax player Dean. At 57 minutes
Shayman Marshall beat Paxton and prodded the ball into an
empty net. Then Baker tackled McIntosh with studs showing
and was rightly sent off. McIntosh unable to continue with
blood from the knee area was replaced by Chris McGann.

McGann nearly scored when he picks up a ball that should
have been dealt with by the Halifax defence and forces the
keeper to make a double save.
Town almost scored a third with a shot that beat the keeper
but was cleared off the line by Lundon. In the substantial
injury time due to the McIntosh injury Shayman Dean makes
a shot at Paxton which was then tapped in by Danny Lowe for
Halifax's third goal.

A disatrous journey to the Shay stadium for Cables and
supporters. Lets hope Robs injury is not too serious. Her was
able to walk onto the coach for home.
