2009 - Celebrating 125 Years of Football History
A lightening move involving Rey, Cooney and Lundon
whose superb pass to returnee Thurston saw his
attempt at goal blocked by keeper Hedge. Moments
later, Phil Cooney was undecided whether head or kick
the ball when he met Aaron Rey's looping cross at the
far post. Cooney could only hit the stand wall from 5
yards.

The second half became a war of attrition with Prescot
competing well with their more illustrious opponents.
Che Morgan and Krystian Liptrot repelled the Halifax
attacks with timely tackles. A super pass from
Thurston put Phil Green in the open; however a lack of
control spoilt a clear opportunity.

The breakthrough arrived after Prescot was awarded a
free kick on 74 minutes. Dale Wright floated the ball
into the box. As players went up to contest there may
have been the slightest of touches as the ball nestled
in the far corner of the net.

the Shaymen were actually a friendly bunch" -
