Prescot again lost points to lower ranked Unibond Division One North opposition. In this case the side that props up the
table.
In the early stages Cables tried to prise open a tight Rossendale format. Two scoring opportunities fell to Chris McGann
inside the first 8 minutes.
Between that time and the half hour stage the visitors were suddenly two goals to the good. Mooney rose above everyone to
head into the net via the knee of Riley in the 13th minute. Then Cables allowed a flick-on that gave Zico-Black the chance to
force his way through two defenders and beat keeper Paxton at the near post.
Cables received a lifeline on 44 minutes as Charlesworth was adjudged to have handled the ball to deflect a corner. Dale
Wright comfortably converted the penalty kick.

Prescot forced the pace in the second period. John Couch forced an uncertain Brocklehurst in the Rossendale goal into a
mistake. Phil Cooney rushed in seemingly to power the ball home from close range. He only succeeded in pruning the tops
of the trees at the park end.
With your correspondent also performing Grand National duties I can only inform you that Cables enjoyed most of the
possession and territory against the backdrop of an increasingly animated Rossendale dugout.
Prescot then received yet another penalty for handball in the 74th minute, much to the anguish of the Rossendale
management. Karl Brown stepped up this time. His weak effort was saved; however, Wright followed up to score from the
rebound.
The result should have been much worse for Prescot as late on Leke broke away for Rossendale, arguably in an offside
position. The substitute had too long to dwell over his course of action as he scooped the ball over Paxton and the crossbar.
