The over-worked Zak Jones produced another outstanding low save when faced with a one-one-one situation with a Boston forward to keep Cables in the game. Despite Jones' efforts Boston doubled their lead on 20 minutes when Rowan notched his second with a precise drive from 12 yards.

Cables first raid into Boston territory ended with Darren Byers' deflected effort easily saved by the home keeper. Any hope of a miracle come back was finally ended in emphatic fashion as Boston's Ricky Miller was given the freedom of the borough to advance towards the Cables goal before hammering a fierce drive from 20 yards high into the Cables goal. Boston's Jon Rowan almost made it four shortly afterwards as he inexplicably skied over the Cables bar when set up in front of goal.

We don't have to wait long for Boston's fourth as Ricky Miller plays a neat one two before firing the ball into the roof of Cables' net. Just before the break Boston's Jon Rowan is first to react to a long through ball and races alone into the Cables area. Thankfully for the visitor's he arrows his shot across the face of Cables goal and inches wide of the far post.

There was little respite for Cables in the second half as Boston's Jon Rowan headed wide before Ricky Miller completed his hat trick with a simple tap in at the far post. Miller almost makes it six shortly after as his flick over Cables' keeper Zak Jones rolls just past a Cables post. With Cables in total disarray O'Connor and Mahama are brought on to try and inject some urgency into the visitor's play. But it's still Boston who look likeliest to score the next goal.

Cables keeper Zak Jones bravely blocks a close range effort by a Boston sub before another Boston effort rattles his post shortly afterwards.Cables fluff a rare chance to score as the Boston Keeper blocks first from Darren Byers and then Karl Connolly.
A wretched evening for Cables is completed on 76 minutes when Darren Byers is harshly judged to have elbowed a Boston player and receives a straight red card. Cables prevent a sixth Boston goal when the ball is scrambled off the Cables goal line following a mass melee 5 minutes from the end.

The defeat sends Cables back to the foot of the table on goal difference.
