2009 - Celebrating 125 Years of Football History
In the night time the team relaxed with some competitive
games of table tennis, with Brad Davies able to show off by
putting some wicked spin on the ball. After that it was to bed
early with a 10:30 curfew imposed.
Another match took place on the Tuesday, with Pauls team
losing 3-2 after a very dubious off side decision given against
Knowsley. The team were surpised to discover that the
match was later aired on Bulgarian TV.
Wednesday was a rest day filled with some more sight
seeing. Thursday was filled with relaxing and some retail
therapy. Whilst traveling around Paul remarked that it made
him appreciate the standard of living we have in the UK.
Bulgarian people appeared less well off and horse and carts
were a common sight.
Friday was back to football with a big deciding match
against Mohtaha in a large football stadium that was of the
type that had a running track around it.
Knowsley triumphed 2-1 in a win that sealed their overall
win in the competition.
Each player was awarded a trrophy. Paul has no idea what
it says on it as the writing is in Bulgarian (translator
required).
All in all Paul thought it was a fantastic experience and
was extremely greatfull to have been given the opportunity.
One sour note to the trip concerned player Ben Williams
who was unlucky enough to sustain quite bad damage to
his ankle.
Along with the win, Paul decribed a further positive point in
that Brad Davies survived being stung during the second
match by a Bulgarian Killer Wasp!
