Kendal miss a golden chance to increase their lead shortly after as slack Cables marking leaves Michael Cole unmarked at the far post. Thankfully for Cables Cole skews his shot high and wide of the Cables goal.Cables have to survive a spell of heavy Kendal pressure as visiting Keeper Zak Jones turns a close range header over the bar and a Cables defender hacks a loose ball clear inside the visitor's six yard area. On 35 minutes Kendal double their lead as Michael Cole chases a headed flick on before controlling the ball and sliding a low shot past a stranded Zak Jones in the Cables' goal. On 40 minutes Zak Jones save Cables from further punishment with a stunning near post save from a powerful Kendal header. The save seems to galvanise Prescot as Darren Byers brings a great save from Kendal keeper Dave Newnes with a rasping 18 yard half volley. On the stroke of half time a prowling Byers is hauled down in the Kendal area when clean through on goal allowing Cables' Karl Bell to reduce the deficit from the penalty spot.

The second half starts with a sustained spell of Cables pressure.Several Cables corners are cleared by the home side before James Croxton steals the ball away from the Kendal keeper but is forced wide of the goal allowing a scrambling Kendal defence to clear.
With 17 minutes left Cables miss a glorious chance to level the game as James Croxton runs through on goal before being upended by the Kendal keeper. The ball breaks to Cables Darren Byers 12 yards from a gaping Kendal goal and with the Cables fans already celebrating Byers drags his shot wide of the far post.3 minutes later Cables' Steve Williams forces the Kendal keeper into a full length diving save with a curling 30 yard free kick.

As Cables' storm forward Kendal make the most of the gaps in the visiting defence as Alex Taylor controls a long through ball to fire Kendal's third low past Zak Jones in the Cables goal with four minutes left.A minute later Cables miss another good chance as a low Liam Kennedy cross fizzes across the Kendal six yard area and is missed by several Cables attackers. With time up Cables keeper Zak Jones is shown a straight red car for bringing down a Kendal forward and Kendal's Dave Newnes converts the resulting spot kick past Cables' stand in keeper Karl Bell. In added time stand in keeper Bell picks up a back pass giving Kendal an indirect free kick 10 yards from the Cables goal which Carl Osman hammers through the Cables wall and into the net for Kendal's fifth goal.
It's rough justice on a hard working Cables side who undoubtedly deserved something from the game.
