2009 - Celebrating 125 Years of Football History

Prescot enjoyed most of the possession and created more
chances in this Unibond Division One North match -
Warrington had the strikers to finish off the job. Phil Green's
indecision with only keeper Mottram to beat cost Prescot
dearly.
Town's first goal came from a sweeping move in the 19th
minute. McCarthy's chip eluded a stretching Paxton.
In the 36th minute Salmon latched onto a through ball and
whilst under pressure fired a shot into the corner.
Efforts by Cooney, Couch (off the bar) and Wright (cleared off
the line) summed up Prescot's day.
A few minutes into the second period, Town's Kennedy was
dismissed for a tackle when the last line of defence. Karl
Brown then hit the bar when the net seemed easier. Green
had a goal disallowed.
Dale Wright's shot hit the back of Town defender, the ball
deflected straight into Mottram's hands.Seconds later a
Warrington free kick was saved by Paxton only for the ball to
arrive at O'Donnell's boot and he made no mistake in the 89th
minute.
