PRESCOT CABLES FOOTBALL CLUB
A Community Interest Football Club founded 1884
Attendees were informed that the Club has been
converted to a CIC, which is a type of Company run
for the Community as a Not For Profit organisation.
The Club would be run on that basis for the sole
reason of providing an opportunity for the peole of
Prescot Town and neighbouring areas to be able to
watch football at the highest practicable level.
Ultimately a special type of non-transfereable share
will be offered to Supporters for a nominal fee which
will be available by way of application. This will result
in the Club being owned by the Community itself. In
many ways this move highlights the incredible amount
of work that has been carried out by a small number
of individuals over the last few years for no profit or
personal reward other than to see the Club survive
and go from strength to strength.
The Board were unanimous in their bitter
disappointment in the Teams performance. However
it was highlighted that much of the Teams failings
were as a result of limited finances that the Club has
had at its disposal. Whilst a number of initiatives had
raised revenue, the continual absence of numbers
through the turnstiles meant that in many instances
Legal Advisor - Peter Neale explained the concept of CICs.
Cables have significantly less money to play with
when looking for players in comparison to rivals in
the Unibond Premier League. It continues to baffle
both the Board and the Supporters as to why local
people fail to recognise and support the jewel they
have on their doorstep. However, there was no
evidence at the AGM that either the Board or the
hardcore of Supporters in attendance were
diminished in their determination for the Club to
continue in its progress and to
succeed on the pitch.
The Junior and Youth Teams
associated with Prescot Cables
are a credit to the Town and like
Cables deserve the support of the
local community.
The Youth Team are to play
Marine FC on 2nd April in the
Liverpool FA Youth Final.
